CB Drafting and Surveying was commissioned to perform an existing conditions survey of the historic Howell Theatre in Smithfield, NC, documenting its current physical state to support preservation and renovation planning. The Howell Theatre has been a beloved cultural landmark since it opened in 1935, serving as a downtown entertainment hub through decades of movies, live performances, and community events. Its distinctive Art Deco façade, long history of movie premieres; including one for Smithfield native Ava Gardner, and its continuous role in the social fabric of Johnston County have made it an enduring piece of local heritage.
Project Overview
CB Drafting & Surveying was asked to perform a spot elevation survey to document existing site conditions and evaluate grade changes across the property. The primary objective was to provide accurate elevation data that could be used to assess the feasibility, slope, and alignment of a proposed driveway addition.
This survey focused on collecting precise elevation points at key locations across the site, contractors, to clearly understand how the land currently slopes before final decisions are made.
